Ryan's family lives on a farm close to Gibbons (northeast of Edmonton) and I always love going up for a weekend visit. The trip is always sure to include delicious homemade meals (Ryan's mom is an amazing cook), a few cooking lessons, saying hello to our favourite pets (see Caesar below), and lots of laughs and great conversation with our loved ones.
All this activity, unfortunately, means I am falling a little behind on my reading... My next book club meeting is at the end of the month and I've yet to start 'The Birth House' by Amy McKay. I realize I forgot to mention it on my list of books to read on my last post. Oops!
I am really looking forward to reading this Canadian bestseller about a midwife in Nova Scotia. Natural birth vs modern medicine is a subject I would love to learn more about. This will also be a great topic for us to discuss at our meeting as many of the girls in my book club are new mothers. I'm sure there will be a lot of opinions!
Meanwhile, I am close to finishing 'The Wise Man's Fear' by Patrick Rothfuss, the second book in the fantasy series I am currently reading. I will hopefully have a review on the first two books of the series ready for you next week.
